Comfort Dog Visit

Look Who’s Coming to Visit St John!
Oct 12-14

nullAddie

a Lutheran Church Charities K9 Comfort Dog
working at Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Danbury, Connecticut

Addie is a well-trained friend who brings a calming influence, allowing people to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them. She interacts with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, events, and in disaster response situations.

Addie began her work as a Comfort Dog in training with a team who responded to the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting on December 14, 2012. She eventually was placed at Immanuel Lutheran to continue a comforting ministry to the school and community.

Friday, October 12 - Addie and her team will visit our School and spend time with the children.
  • After school (3-4 pm) parents, children, and family members are invited to a brief overview of what Addie does as a comfort dog.
Sunday, October 14 – Addie and her team will come Worship with us and then share about her ministry during Family Bible Hour.
  • Afterward, Addie and team will enjoy the Food Truck and Bills Game fundraiser.

Come join us as we learn about this incredible ministry through Comfort Dogs.

Thank You! Food Drive 2018

Thanks so much for all who helped make the Food Drive a success!

Despite the cold weather, we collected a ton of food & personal care products
and had nearly $150 in cash donated!

And many enjoyed a hotdog as well. :)

Voter's Meeting August 19, 2018

REMINDER

Voter's Meeting
Sunday, August 19 at 10:00 am

Right after Worship this Sunday we will be having our annual Budget Approval Voter's Meeting.

This is a very important meeting as we will be approving the budget for 2018-2019 fiscal year for St John Church and School.

Our budget is a tool we use to guide our mission and ministry at St John and therefore is very important that we have a good turnout for this Voter's Meeting - WE NEED YOU TO ATTEND!

Our Mission is what Jesus called every Christian to, namely to "make disciples of all nations," (Matthew 28:19) and His command to Love God and Love our neighbor (Matthew 22:37-39)

Our Ministry is the specific actions we do in our community (Wheatfield and the Buffalo/Niagara region), by using our God-given talents and resources. Examples are regular worship services, outreach efforts to our communities’ specific needs and providing a formal Christian education through our School.

The Church Council has been working hard on putting together a realistic budget plan that projects giving and spending for 2018-2019 fiscal year and will help our mission and ministry happen. Our budget plan for 2018-2019 projects close to a million dollars to fund our mission and ministry, but also projects that with our current income trends (tithes, tuition, and other revenue streams) we will have a deficit of $10-12,000. While we always hope not to have a deficit, we have to be realistic with our plan and this is our best projections for 2018-2019. (remember - this deficit is only a projection, with increase giving and/or a reduction in spending we will not have a deficit)

What does that mean for you?

  • Pray - give thanks for all the blessings God has given St John and that we will trust Him and be faithful stewards of these resources that are used for the mission and ministry of St John
  • Attend the Voter's meeting this Sunday so you can see the budget plan and get an understanding of what it takes to finance St John for 2018-2019
  • Participate in the mission and ministry of St John - continue your involvement, consider new ways to participate and, as you are able, help us meet the budget plan for 2018-2019.

Thank you for being a part of the mission and ministry of St John Lutheran Church and School and we will see you this Sunday!
